How the calculator works
Simple maths, honest numbers.
Most sellers count placed orders as sales. Couriers and ad platforms are paid on every order, but you only get paid for the ones that are delivered.
Loss per return
Delivery charge, plus return charge, plus packaging. The product comes back, the money spent shipping it does not.
Real cost per customer
Monthly ad spend divided by delivered orders, not placed orders. This is the number your ad dashboard does not show you.
Break-even return rate
The return rate where your margin on delivered orders no longer covers returns and ads. Above it, every extra order loses money.
Common questions
Questions, answered.
What is a normal COD return rate?
It depends heavily on category, price and how you confirm orders. Many cash on delivery sellers see 15% to 30% of parcels come back. The calculator shows the rate where your own business stops making money, which matters more than any average.
Does the calculator include the product coming back?
Yes. It assumes returned products go back into stock, so you only lose delivery, return charge and packaging on a return. If many returns come back damaged, your real loss is higher than shown.
Why is my real cost per customer higher than my ad dashboard shows?
Ad platforms count a purchase when an order is placed. If a quarter of those parcels are returned, you paid for customers who never paid you. Dividing ad spend by delivered orders gives the cost you actually carry.
How do I lower my return rate?
The biggest levers are confirming orders before you ship, checking a buyer's past delivery record, taking a small advance on high-risk or outside-Dhaka orders, and making sure your ads and product pages set accurate expectations.
